18.57 The reversal of fortune for the rebels since the airstrikes is remarkable – from a defeated retreating force pursued by Gaddafi’s powerful army, they now seem to be making rapid progress, chasing Gaddafi’s fleeing forces. Reports this evening say they have reached as far as Brega, the next town west along the road from Ajdabiyah, and perhaps farther. Will they now be able to chase them along the road to Sirte, the town they hoped to march on a few weeks ago? The city is a major Gaddafi stronghold and may the site of the next significant battle.

„We are in the centre of Brega,“ Abdelsalam al-Maadani told AFP by telephone. „Gaddafi’s forces are on the retreat and should now be at Al-Bisher 20 miles west of Brega.“ AFP said a journalist travelling with them confirmed seeing rebels in control of the centre of the oil town, and said government forces had completely withdrawn.

Warum?

Kurz zusammengefasst: Die westliche Nation und ihre bürokratischen politischen Mühlen malen VIEL zu langsam um den Rebellen in Lybien IRGENDEINE Hilfe zu sein.

Westerwelle lies verlauten, dass Gadafi gehen müsse, so oder so.

Doch NATÜRLICH kann man nicht kopflos in einen Krieg eingreifen. „Deutschland wird sich nicht an einem Krieg beteiligen“ sagt Westerwelle.

Mit genau diesem Satz gewann Gerhard Schröder die Wahl zum Bundeskanzler gegen Angela Merkel.

Nur dass es damals um den Irak gieng und SEHR SEHR berechtigt war. (G.Bush und die Öl und Rüstungsmafia steckten hinter diesem Krieg.)

NUR KOMISCH, dass man damals KUWEIT SOFORT GEHOLFEN HAT (haben ja auch Öl) andscheinend sind die „wirtschaftlichen“ Aspekte in Lybien nicht mehr SOOO interessant um ein schnelles Eingreifen wirklich zu wollen.

Nichtmal auf eine Flugverbotszone konnte man sich einigen. Viele reden davon passieren tut nichts.

Ich korrigiere mich……es tut sich doch etwas. Heute um 10.30 kommt eine Sondersitzung des UN-Sicherheitsrates zusammen. Frankreich hat wohl noch eine Rechnung mit Gadafi offen.

„csch. Leipzig, 18. März 2011. Der UN-Sicherheitsrat hat sich am Donnerstagabend für eine Militäraktion gegen Libyen ausgesprochen. Es wurde eine Resolution verabschiedet, die ein sofortiges Flugverbot über Libyen bestimmt und zudem ein militärisches Eingreifen des Westens möglich macht. Der Entwurf trägt vor allem die Handschrift Frankreichs, das sich bereits in den vergangenen Tagen für ein Flugverbot ausgesprochen hatte. Von den 15 Mitgliedsstaaten stimmten zehn für die Resolution, fünf enthielten sich, darunter auch Deutschland, Russland und China. Sie hätten mit ihrem Veto den Beschluss zu Fall bringen können.

Zentraler Punkt der UN-Resolution ist der Schutz der Zivilisten in Libyen und so sind auch Luftangriffen und alle anderen “erforderlichen Maßnahmen” diesbezüglich erlaubt. Die Vereinten Nationen “autorisieren die Mitgliedsstaaten, alle nötigen Maßnahmen zu ergreifen, um Zivilisten und von Zivilisten bewohnte Gebiete in Libyen zu schützen, denen ein Angriff droht”, heißt es in dem Papier. Eine Besatzung durch ausländische Mächte wird hingegen in jeglicher Form ausgeschlossen.
Außenminister Guido Westerwelle zeigte sich nicht vollkommen zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis. “Die Resolution enthält eine wesentliche Verschärfung der internationalen Sanktionen gegen das Gaddafi-Regime. Das begrüßen und unterstützen wir”, sagte er den Medien nach dem Beschluss. Westerwelle betonte aber nochmals die Gefahren und Risiken einer militärischen Intervention und begründete damit seine Stimmenthaltung bei der Abstimmung. Ein möglicher Libyen-Einsatz könnte beispielsweise von Frankreich, Großbritannien und den USA durchgeführt werden, die sich nach eigenen Angaben auf einen Eingriff vorbereiten würden. Man sei sich einig, dass das Land unter der Führung Gaddafis umgehend die UN-Resolution anerkennen und Gewalt gegen Zivilsten beenden müsse.

Gaddafi selbst reagierte auf die Abstimmung mit der Androhung von Vergeltungsschlägen. Er kündigt an, der Welt “das Leben zur Hölle machen” zu wollen, falls sein Land von ausländischen Mächten angegriffen werden sollte. Der Westen würde nie wieder Frieden haben, sagte er noch am Abend der Resolution.“

OTHERWISE RUSSIA, POLAND, LUXEMBURG, BELGIUM, CZECH REPUBLIC, GERMANY AND OTHER COUNTRIES EAST OF FRANCE COULD SUFFER SEVERLY FROM A TERRORIST ATTACK AGAINST FRENCH NUCLEAR SITES.

Die Rebellen werden seit TAGEN UND WOCHEN RUSSISCHEN PANZERN UND ARTELLERIE (Stalin-Orgel) UND RUSSISCHEN FLUGZEUGEN ANGEGRIFFEN UND AUCH DEUTSCHEN GEWEHREN…… und so sieht die Gegenwehr aus:

Der mit mehr Panzern und mehr Hardware gewinnt.

Das war im Krieg schon immer so.

Wem als erstes der Nachschub ausgeht (und die Rebellen hat eigentlich nie wirklich einen) der verliert den Krieg. (s.h. Stalingrad und viele viele andere verlorene Kriege)

Das ist doch klar.

Wir schauen dabei zu.

Vielleicht denkt auch jedes Land „die anderen werden jetzt dann schon was tun… wir haben unsere eigenen Probleme“.

EIGENTLICH KÖNNTEN DOCH AUCH MAL DIE ANDEREN ARABISCHEN STAATEN IHREN NACHBARN ZU HILFE EILEN ODER?

ANSTATT IN DUBAI BESCHISSENE BESCHEUERTE TOTAL IN DEN SAND GESETZTE FREIZEITPARKS ZU BAUEN!

ABER NEIN!!!!!! DIE GEBEN GADAFI AUCH NOCH WAFFEN!

WEIL SIE EBENFALLS DIKTATOREN SIND DIE AUF EINER ÖLQUELLE SITZEN UND DEN WILLEN UND ZORN DER BEVÖLKERUNG FÜRCHTEN, OHNE DEREN VERSKLAVUNG SIE SICH IHRE MARMELADENBRÖTCHEN MORGENS SELBST SCHMIEREN MÜSSTEN.

Wenigstens einen von Gadafi’s russischen Jet konnten die Aufständischen vom Himmel holen. (Haben die mit Steinen geworfen oder was?)

Gebt mir eine hand voll Eurofighter oder besser F-22 Raptor und 5 Stunden flugtraining und ich flieg da runter und hol ein paar Alte Migs vom Himmel.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said that US officials were seeking to learn as much as they could about Libyan opposition groups, but that offering weapons to opponents of Gaddafi was only one option on the table.

“On the issue of arming, providing weapons, it is one of the range of options that is being considered,” Carney told reporters.

“We are pursuing a number of channels to have conversations and discussions with the opposition, groups and individuals, as we try to learn more about what they are pursuing, what they want.“

This is crearly a massive „lets discuss until the problems solved itself and we saved some money“.

Germany chancellor Gerhard Schröder won the election by saying „Germany will not take part in a war“.

And it was good that we did not copy every stupid idea that cowboys from texas come up with.

Russia is opposed to any form of military intervention in Libya, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in Moscow.

“We do not consider foreign and especially military intervention a means to resolve the crisis in Libya,” Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying. “The Libyans must resolve their problems themselves.”

I WOULD SAY IF REBELLS COULD BUY A FRENCH(!) FIGHTER JETS (MIRAGE), THEY WOULD SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS THEMSELVES!

The weapons: “Ninety percent are Russian made, but there’s a Chinese 107 mm multiple rocket launcher behind you. Before the people captured these cannons, the regime was using them against people. Take a look at the size of the ammunition. They were designed to be used against planes, but Gadhafi used them to kill Libyans. When this bullet hits a human being it shatters him.”

Libyan warplanes have reduced their activity in the fight against rebel forces since a peak last week, the US envoy to Nato said on Monday as he played down the need for a no-fly zone.

“Our sense is that a no-fly zone is one possibility, but when you really look at what’s going on, we have actually seen a decrease in both fighter and overall air activity over the weekend,” Ambassador Ivo Daalder said.
