yeah…… i guess you have heard this before………

it’s definately one of the most magnificent changes in mankind’s development, evolution and history.

since the internet…….. since mp3…….. things have changed DRAMATICALLY.

musicians and their managers/companies are BROKE

the porn industry is BROKE

movie industry will be BROKE

if no one buys a licence for windows microsoft will be BROKE soon (it seems esp. chinese companies do not give a damn about copyrights)

and in fact.

it’s just natural to „copy“ knowledge, methods, work-flows, technologies.

and software is just a piece of knowledge-work. isn’t it?

the first „copy“ you have every made is probably from your parents.

as a child YOU copied from your parents!

basically EVERYONE is a „GENE-REMIX“ a „cover-song“ of his/her parents! 😀

you imitated how dad is driving a car, you imitated how mum puts make up on her face….

you imitate their „knowledge“.

it is ONE form of learning.

the problem is.

this way wester companies lost and will lose a lot of money.

things have changed.

find new business models, the old one’s won’t work FOREVER.

and it is more a sign of progress than a crime.

yes it will have side-effects.

i mean who will pay for a multi million dollar|euro game… if 90% of the „customers“ will be happy with a copy of the knowledge-work?

okay…. who ever invests in computer games will probably also gamble with his money.

because computer games are HIGH risk business. just as gambling or stocks.

maybe we will see less commercial games and music and operating systems (LINUX!???? around since 1992, for FREE!)

this free open source knowledge-works can be „different“ and still a little not user friendly but slowly they are becoming just as easy to use and good as commercial products.

(remember, microsoft loved to sell you software with a LOT of bugs…  (Win 98, Win 95) basically a „beta“ version… because development-time equals costly investments)

it’s definately one of the most magnificent changes in mankind’s development, evolution and history.

new companies will evolve and some companies will not survive the dramatic change.
