What is happyness?

For me. Happyness is the state where you have the feeling that life is worth living.

That you enjoy the time you spend on earth with all your heart.

As Steve Jobs said it, your heart will tell you, when you love what you do.

So happyness is a feeling but it is also deep satisfaction.

For me true happyness is A lasting satisfaction. A sustainable satisfaction.

What about bacterie? Do they have feelings als multi-cell-organisms do?

I believe not.

Only multi-cell-organisms are „enjoying“ the wast partiture/bandwith of feelings that hollywood movies always play with. (you know the typical love-movie-plot: first there are advanterous… then they meet each other… then something sad happenes…. in the end they overcome it and are happy ever after together.)

Having bad & sad feelings over a long period of time (beeing mentally unhappy) will DEFINATELY KILL YOU or atleast impact your physical health in various forms of deseases as CANCER. (the very very dreadfull desease, because immune system will not work as good in unhappy people as in happy)

So it is ESSENTIAL FOR SURVIVAL to cultivate happyness.

NO KIDDING. I HAVE SEEN IT MULTIPLE TIMES.

From a unhappy wife that dies of cancer, while her ashole husband seems to live on forever. From the son at the age of 23 that jumps off the balcony because of the lack of love in his world. (his mother died of cancer and his father is an ashole driven by his economic goals and lack of love and compassion… he not even seemed to cry at his funeral… while his sister had a nervous break down…. we all cried.)

When are people happy?

People are happy, when things gradually become better and better.

People are unhappy, when things gradually become worse and worse. (under any aspect)

How can this be acchieved?

Because interest rates and economic growth and our own boredom froce us to accieve MORE AND MORE.

As you probably know, there are people on this planet starving because they do not have the means (or the money) to feed themselves.

Those people are probably very very unhappy with their condition and the rest of the world seems helplessly unorganized and not interested in helping.

Because they have enough problems of their own to survive.

So the basis of happyness is of course: SURVIVAL

if you can not survive… if you have to struggle to survive…  if you have a dread desease that threatens to kill you… if you are a prisoner condemned to die… you will feel (probably) miserable most of your time.

When the somach is filled the focus shifts to other problems.

A HAPPY RELATIONSHIP WITH A MAN/WOMEN, HEALTHY CHILDREN, A BIG HOUSE, A NICE CAR, ACTIVITIES THAT FULLFILL LIFE.

What makes people happy besides steady improvement of their situation is when unexpected good things are happening.

This is why i love to do crazy things.

Because it is advanterous and unexpected things will happen. So it is „fun“ to do things nobody would expect.

On the other side those things should be productive in some way.

If you fail, you have atleast a story to tell and your character becomes increasingly interesting 🙂

Back to the topic.

Some people have it easier to be happy and some not.

This is because their body is sometimes producing more or less of happy-hormones like Phenethylamin (PEA) (people freshly in love), Serotonin, Dopamin (Sex, Chocolate).

Dopamin for example is produced in the brain when the human had success.

😀

So eating chocolate means: „wow! You have been successfull at finding something delicous to eat“

But as you eat tons of chocolate every day.

The „thrill“ is less and less.

So it is important to cultivate sensitivity.

To NOT eat chocolate every day to make it something special. (same for sex)

Breathing-Meditation / listening to your breath / focu on the experience of starting to breathe in…. focus on the experience on the pause that might be between breathing in and out… how does it feel? and make contact with the experience of starting to breathe in again….

sitting on the floor makes it easier.

this way you will feel subtile things more intense….. makes you calm down… and focus on what is really important: TO BE HAPPY! 🙂

Scientists say meditation like mandala meditation (never done this) is a form of self-hypnosis.

This could be possible, but who cares how it works, if it „works“ and does something good.

NEVER PAY FOR A MEDITATION WORKSHOP! THEY NEED TO BE FOR FREE! OR THE TEACHER IS NOT SERIOUS ABOUT HELPING YOU!
